After a tiring week at workstation, all I could think of, is to be a couch potato so that I can catch up with my favorite series especially Gossip Girl, How I Met Your Mother and many more. However, since I am almost hooked to my laptop at office, my eyes gets tired often and it demands rest on weekends, making me miss my TV shows. Consequently, I blamed my idiot box since, I realized that it was creating my television experience tiresome.

So I made a decision to buy a new TV, but did not realize that buying it would become a tedious job. I was very puzzled, after seeing a plethora of TV units at the store and the grumpy salesman could not convince me for a particular LCD. So finally, an idea cropped my mind that jotting down the features would help me to understand that which is the best TV to buy. And, I am sure that there are other people as well, who would have struck up in the same position like me.

To start with, I had shortlisted few TV models according to picture quality, features and value for money of different brands such as Sony, Panasonic, LG and Samsung. But suddenly, it just clicked my mind that in this technology era, it is important to understand about TV technology too, for a long life of the electronic device (after all we are paying the hard earned money). too, for a long life of the electronic device (after all we are paying the hard earned money).

Since I live alone in an apartment, hence, television is the only source of entertainment I have and therefore, I went next day with a prepared mind to buy the TV. This time I had a clear picture in my mind that what I want to purchase - a TV that solves my eye pain issues mainly.

All prepared I entered the electronic store with a vivid picture in my mind for my TV. After looking at all the TV displayed, I finally had to tell them about my old TV problems and how it hurts my eye and gives me eye pain as well. With a warm smile the sales representative took me to the LG section and the first question, which popped, was “Why LG?” and he answered “Because it has FPR”. And I felt so ignorant that I am not aware of this technology at all and then he explained me about the conventional Shutter Glass (SG) and FPR.

So for all of you, who are out there planning to buy a TV, should be aware of this technologies because longevity of the television set does matter. To start with, shutter glass technology runs with battery, eradicates the problem of ghosting i.e. copy of the transmitted visual, and is inexpensive too. The second one is FPR, which makes the LCD, LED and 3D TV flicker free, high brightness level, and a high response rate. With this technology, I will not feel nausea, eye pain and headaches. Then, I ultimately felt that ‘yes it is FPR technology which will make my viewing experience worthwhile’.
